Mission of the CBIMC
We are looking to establish a Men’s Club at Congregation Beth Israel. The men’s Club will be a social organization open to all current male members of CBI. Programs will deal with specific needs and interests of the Synagogue and of the members.
The Men’s Club will offer the opportunity for its membership to coordinate and sponsor Jewish events in conjunction with other Synagogue events and services and as a club. Men today are faced with many questions. Conflicting notions of career, fatherhood, responsibility and marriage have eroded centuries-old concepts of male identity and self-worth. More and more of us are searching for a new sense of balance in our lives, searching for something that speaks to us as Jews, as adults, and as men.
The CBI Men’s Club mission is to engage in projects and activities that provide meaningful services to the congregation; to sponsor and promote vitally important community-building projects; and to give other members the opportunity to explore and celebrate their Jewish spirit. Our hope is that the CBIMC members become actively involved in youth education, adult education, social action, and fellowship activities which will contribute to the enrichment of CBI and the local Jewish community.
Getting started

Initially, we want to clearly identify the desire and interest in the type of functions and activities that would involve a Men’s Club. We do not intend to take the place of any current CBI committees or infringe on any current activities. The goal is to serve as a vehicle to bring additional, current, and future members into our Synagogue.
Future

The CBIMC will be multi-functional. There will be a diverse amount of programming, from social programs and Synagogue service projects to community events and fundraising. The club will have its own dues and membership and maintain its own expenses based upon individual costs of programs, contributions, or events. The costs of programs and the CBIMC treasury will not be funded in any way by the Synagogue. Our hope is to be able to have a scholarship created to sponsor members of our youth in summer educational programs, and other scholarships as determined by our membership.

Membership
CBIMC will support its activities by charging annual membership dues, and may have a variety of fundraisers to help support various programs, projects, defray costs of publications, mailings and other charitable work the CBIMC deems appropriate. Membership will run from January thru January with dues of $xx.00 per member.
Please make every effort to attend. A CBI Men’s Club is long overdue!

Regards,

Ed Schwartzman
